The story
It's common knowledge among stream-dwelling animals that dawn is the best time of day to catch fish. The challenge for this pair, however, was that they were both late risers. Void of energy, they watched their respective conspecifics whip around the water every day in search of fish and aquatic plants, respectively. Resigned, they looked at each other one day and concluded that there had to be a less hectic way to start the day. Their solution is seen in this design, showing the struggling couple starting their hunt with a cup of coffee to wake up - and subsequently letting their fishing rods do the hard work for them. The catch is shared in solidarity. The otter gets the fish, and the beaver gets the bycatch of aquatic plants… and should that not be enough, there’s always the option to take a bite out of the boat.
